Nobody wins a contract because their registrations are in order. Plenty of organizations lose one because they are not.
SAM.gov is the federal government's System for Award Management. An entity generally has to be registered and active to receive federal awards, and the registration has to be renewed. It carries a unique entity identifier, representations and certifications, and banking detail — each of which can be wrong in ways that are not obvious until something fails.
NYC PASSPort is New York City's procurement portal. Vendors doing business with the City enrol there, maintain disclosure information, and respond to solicitations through it. Enrollment is detailed, and an incomplete profile can leave an organization unable to bid on work it is otherwise qualified for.

The failure mode is almost always expiry. An organization registers once, wins work, and nobody owns the renewal. The registration lapses quietly and surfaces at the worst possible moment — usually mid-bid, or when a payment will not process.
We track renewal dates and act ahead of them, which is most of the value.
